Ignorance is everywhere. It's even right outside your door.
I took this picture of anti-Obama protestors last Monday. All I had to do was walk across the street from my apartment, stand in front of the Lincoln Park Student Center, and open my phone. There I found these posters featuring both Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and President Obama with Adolf-style crumb catchers.

With all the online technology and social networking available today, starting and spreading a rumor is easier than ever. But it has also become easier to get caught. Recently in the news, there has been a growing trend of people getting into trouble for writing comments about their schoolmates and work collegues on Myspace pages, Facebook walls, and personal blogs.

The University has taken strides in the direction of making PUC an eco-friendly campus. A real recycling program is under way. Other organizations on campus are doing their part by offering different means to recycle waste.
Yet more can be done.

If you are a driver in the Chicagoland area then you know your worst enemy. No, not the bikers who fail to see instructions on the road or the traffic wardens who spot out an expired parking meter just seconds before you run back to your car. The real enemies of any driver in Chicago are those ever vigilant red-light cameras.

Few things have galvanized students on campus quite like the $68,000 toilet in University Hall.
Within hours of the story's publication, a Facebook group called "The $68,000 toilet at UIC" sprung up. It is nearing 1,000 members.
Within days, a poster was posted all over the university arguing that the university was flushing their money down the drain.

Administrators couch the university's budget crisis in terms of money. It's important to think about in terms of people. Students. Opportunities gained and lost.
To that end, we have invited several members of our community to talk about the crisis in frank and personal terms.

Move over Baby Boomers! A new generation is taking over and nothing is about to stand in their way. The Millennials, as they are being called, are all 18 to 29-year-olds who have come into adulthood in the new millennium (in other words they are the children of the digital age).

What is MTV doing? With shows like "Teen Mom" and "16 and Pregnant," MTV is publicizing teen pregnancies, pregnancies out of wedlock, and teenagers struggling to even finish high school.
Throughout the first season of "16 and pregnant," America was introduced to four teens who were pregnant with their first child, and none of them were planned.

Why is recycling so hard for some people? Not just recycling but also, to follow the cliché, reducing and reusing. In all seriousness it is not asking much.
Energy efficiency and "going green" are fairly big topics in our society, compact fluorescent light bulbs (those spirally light bulbs that save energy) and hybrid cars are gaining popularity, yet so many people won't put forth the effort to just recycle.
