Last Monday, while many UIC students were sleeping in and taking advantage of their day off from school, 150 faculty members and 50 students met at the State of Illinois Building to protest the state's troubling lack of financial support for higher public education.

The university opened a new resource center for commuter students last week, located in the basement of Student Center East. Run by James Stewart, Assistant Director for Commuter Resources, the Commuter Student Resource Center offers commuter students a home away from home.

Sad but uplifting scene at Hillel

The Westboro Baptist Church came to campus last week and left not with a bang, but a whimper. Gathered at the corner of Taylor and Morgan, the Westboro Baptist Church brought four members of their community to UIC Hillel with messages of hatred for Jews, Barack Obama and homosexuals.
