Hustle UP UH is a fun-run/walk up the 28 floors of University Hall, the historic Walter Netsch-designed structure located at 601 S. Morgan Street on the UIC campus. The event, part of UIAA Homecoming Week activities, aims to promote good health and school spirit.

Participants receive an official Hustle Up UH t-shirt, and there is a post-race fitness area featuring snacks, beverages and a health fair to greet participants once they reach the top of UH.

Registration is $12, with proceeds going to the Grand Kids Foundation, the educational-based organization of UIC alum and Detroit Tigers star Curtis Granderson.

"Along with our friends from the University of Illinois Alumni Association and the Student Alumni League, we couldn't pass up the opportunity to bring back Hustle Up UH," UIC Assistant Athletic Director Shawn Sullivan said. "We invite all Flames fans to register and join Sparky D. Dragon as we climb up the venerable campus landmark in spirited preparation for next week's big games at the Pavilion."

Miller scores 26 to lead Women on road

Tenacious team defense and the hot shooting of junior Jessie Miller helped the UIC women's basketball team turn away Youngstown State as the Flames earned a 57-42 win on Thursday night in Ohio.

Things did not look good for the Flames (11-7, 5-3) early on as they trailed the Penguins 27-17 with 3:32 left in the opening half.

UIC used a suffocating defense to spark an impressive run that stretched over the next 21 minutes, though, and saw the Flames outscore the Penguins, 32-6, to take a 49-33 lead with just over three minutes left in the game.

During the surge, UIC limited Youngstown State (2-17, 0-8) to just one field goal and 1-for-20 shooting from the field.

Miller took care of things offensively for the Flames with a season-high 26 points, including a personal best six three-pointers. She scored 16 points in the first half, netting back-to-back three-pointers in the waning moments to get UIC back in the game as the Flames trailed by just one, 27-26, at intermission.

UIC outscored YSU 31-15 in the final 20 minutes with the Penguins shooting just 13 percent (4-for-30) from the field.

Senior Nikki Grobbecker led the Flames on the boards with eight, and redshirt freshman Shameia Green dished out five assists.

Woes continue for Collins' crew

Troy Cotton sank six 3-pointers in the second half and scored 25 points in Green Bay's 83-72 victory over UIC on Wednesday night.

The Flames led 37-36 at halftime before Cotton got hot. His first 3-pointer of the half gave the Phoenix a 39-37 lead, and his second gave Green Bay the lead for good at 42-41.

Two more threes by Cotton bumped the margin to 52-45. A three by Mike Schachtner made it 55-45, and Green Bay
