After a defensive battle that left the men's soccer team with a 0-0 clean sheet draw versus 20th ranked Michigan State, the Flames (0-2-1) were thirsty for their first win when they headed to Kentucky last weekend for the University of Louisville Invitational. But a 2-0 loss versus Kentucky (3-0-0) failed to squelch their fire.
The teams were locked into another stalemate last Friday afternoon until two jabs from the Wildcats at the 60 and 62 minute marks from Brad Walker and Chad Hagerty found their way past Flames keeper Jovan Bubonja and into the net.
The Flames tallied nine total shots against Kentucky keeper Dan Williams with two each from Matt Spiess, Ian Sarachan and Stevan Jovcic while Bubonja made three saves. All three on-target shots from the Flames came in the first half.
The men will travel to Las Vegas this weekend where they will be taking on UNLV and UC Riverside in the UNLV Rebel Classic.
